Title: «Demente»
This series of works had as its starting point memories and conversations with Isabel dos Ramos Fernandes (Ponta do Sol, 1930). It addresses her relationship with space, her vague memories, and her melancholic temperament, in a present that is always confused with the past. Carolina Fernandes, seeks to illustrate the intersection between reality and fiction, in an environment of uncertainty, characteristic of a «Demented» human being.
The artist has developed, since 2013, her artistic project called Mutants, where she explores various concepts such as space, memory or motherhood, through the deconstruction of the human body.

9th to 12th of May | 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. | Painting & Sculpture | Old PSP Police Station
Title: «Domar de Feras»
Through his grotesque and experimental art and using recycled materials, Carina Mendonça uses different languages to reflect on his self, as an individual and as a social being.
Synopsis:
“Nothing has an end in itself. Just as we can change the temperature of a thermometer from cold to hot, it is also possible to transmute stubbornness into perseverance and hatred into love, because they are the same, only at different levels or degrees.
This inner walk requires work. It is a descent to our hell, which is where we hide these poor, rotten and vicious animals as fears, frustrations, social impositions, modisms, traumas, inertia, materialism, resistance, anger, envy, pride and selfishness.
We must be able to look at them and recognise their existence as well as their origin. Will and attention must be the flame that guides us towards ever more full values and virtues. No rush and no pause!”

Recently I have been divided between two places, Madeira and Lisbon, always taking the same route by plane. The project seeks to think about being here and there, the condition of being displaced, the routes repeated on different days and the insecurities inherent in the journey, through the manipulation of various visual symbols and family elements”.

Title: «INarrativas»
In the exhibition «INarratives», the audience is invited to explore silent narratives, to dive into the layers of meaning that reside beyond appearances and to discover the beauty and depth of the stories that inhabit the heart and mind of the painter.
Fascinated by the patterns of nature, this attraction can be attributed to her academic background in biology. Influenced by the micro and macrocosm, the artist finds in the painting a way to understand her unconscious and her own nature.
