«MÃE» by João Brás

«MÃE» is the first feature film by Madeirese director João Brás and tells the story of a woman who suffers from a chronic neurodegenerative disease and the most common form of dementia, Alzheimer's, portraying the implications in the family.

A feature film that sensitizes to a cross-sectional disease in society, in a film that was shot and recorded entirely in Madeira, especially in Ponta do Sol.

Synopsis:

"Surmounted by degenerative dementia, as her memory dissipates over time, Dolores fades. In the hope of recovering memories from a past, their sons Mario and Samuel move to the island of Madeira, trying to provide better living conditions for their mother. However, the days become long and challenging as Dolores becomes increasingly dependent."

«Up North» - Rodrigo Zan

The movie director Rodrigo Zan is passionate about cinematography, photography and visual arts. With a long career (more than 15 years), he was executive producer and director at Imaculado Films. He had several acclaimed works, including "Jimbo", "Fenced" and "Up North", which have won international recognition and numerous awards.

Synopsis:

“Joackim Guichard is a former professional surfer who is looking for a new beginning, a meaningful life, his true north. After years of competition, he realized that his professional path has no longer fulfilled his heart. He headed to the Northern California, looking for deep inner answers, solitude and reconnection with nature, surrounded by cold waters, great white sharks and good waves.”
