Composed of Nuno Gonçalves (The Gift), Sónia Tavares (The Gift), Fernando Ribeiro (Moonspell), and Paulo Praça, the Amália Hoje project has, since its inception in 2009, become a unique phenomenon in Portuguese music.
The essence of the project rests on a simple yet daring premise: taking iconic songs from Amália’s repertoire and transporting them into a contemporary soundscape, with modern arrangements and electronic textures, without losing the emotional and poetic depth that made the fado singer a major symbol of Portuguese culture.
Avoiding the most obvious choices, the group selected songs with strong potential for reinvention, bringing together different generations and audiences who found in these versions a balance between respect for tradition and artistic boldness.
The performance of Amália Hoje at the Aqui Acolá Festival is set to be one of the most memorable moments of the 2026 edition and, possibly, one of the most impactful concerts in the region this year, not only due to the symbolic power of the repertoire but also the scale of the show. There will be 16 people on stage, with a choir joining the musicians, giving the concert a rare scope and an overwhelming sonic presence.
Amália Hoje will bring the audience a unique, modern, and unforgettable tribute to the eternal voice of Portugal.
