C’azoada
Sunday | 17th of May | 7:00 p.m. | Stage Largo do Pelourinho | Outdoor
C’azoada is a folk-inspired group with deep roots in traditional Madeiran music; its name refers to a typical regional expression that evokes a strong, distinctive sound capable of being heard from a distance. With nearly two decades of existence, the band brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds and builds a repertoire that preserves Madeira’s songbook, highlighting its melodies, lyrics, and traditional instruments, while exploring new sonic possibilities.
Their artistic approach is based on a fusion of tradition and modernity, resulting in a unique musical language, free from conventions and open to experimentation. As part of the “Música do Mundo” scene, C’azoada engages in ongoing work of collection, recreation, and innovation, keeping Madeira’s cultural identity alive while projecting it into new contexts and audiences.
