The Aqui Acolá Festival is back with a new film workshop, with Hugo Almeida returning to Aqui Acolá. This is an opportunity for anyone interested in video and cinema to deepen their knowledge. The workshop is open to a maximum of 10 people.
Hugo de Almeida began his career as a documentary filmmaker with the controversial academic project 'Academia de Submissos', in which he spent two months following academic harassment in higher education.
Over the years, he has developed documentary productions for major brands in Portugal.
In 2022, Hugo Almeida participated for the first time in the Aqui Acolá Festival, where he made a short documentary entitled 'Continuity', in which he followed the band Hercules and Love Affair for a week in Ponta do Sol.
In 2023, he directed the documentary «Carne: A pegada insustentável», produced by MEP Francisco Guerreiro. This documentary, which will be screened in this edition of Aqui Acolá, has been nominated for the Official Portuguese Cinema section of Fantasporto 2024 and is part of the official selection of LISBIFF, the Lisbon Indie Film Festival. Internationally, the film won the prize for best documentary of the year at the Frankfurt Indie Stars Film Festival 2024 and was nominated for the Italia Green Film Festival and the Vaasa Wildlife Festival in Finland.
