Synopsis:
The Aqui Acolá Festival opens with the screening of the documentary 'Espírito Divino', which highlights the true protagonists of popular culture in Ponta do Sol, its inhabitants.
The tradition of the Easter Visits is still alive in the municipality of Ponta do Sol. This is the main reason behind delving into the meticulous preparations for the visits of the Holy Spirit in the three parishes of the municipality, focusing on the preparation of the Saloias, from making the dress, preparing the cape and placing the gold, to the presentation of their hair, in an attempt to reflect the elegance and deep cultural significance of this ritual.
The documentary 'Espírito Divino' brings us the essence of a tradition that continues to unite families, mobilise the community and express its faith. In a faithful portrayal, without the use of staging, 'Espírito Divino' is the product of a collection of images and testimonies taken over 15 days in 2024, in the five parishes of the municipality of Ponta do Sol. A snapshot in time that shows us the similarities and differences of the Holy Spirit tradition in Ponta do Sol in 2024.
'Espírito Divino' is an initiative of the Ponta do Sol Town Council, with Carolina Freitas producing, researching and writing the texts, and Roberto Assis directing and capturing the images.
This special screening is intended for those who didn't have the opportunity to see the documentary 'Divine Spirit' at the Festival's opening session.
The Festival recommends that you book and collect your tickets in advance. The screening is free and open to the public, but subject to availability.
